SpatialSQLis an application for performing simple and advanced spatial queries and updates through an intuitive graphic user interface. It could be considered an extension of MapInfo Professional SQL and is written in MapBasic and 'c'. spatialSQL utilises the MapInfo Select and Update statements and embedded functions to target operations at a single or multiple table level. Some functions are also supported on selections within a table. Because of the additional operators and qualifiers, data validation is performed prior to each query. Validation isolates either illogical combination of query parameters or a combination not supported in the current version of spatialSQL. The provision of a batch mode allows rules-based or repetitive operations to be processed.
Useful functions in SpatialSQL that are able to be applied stand-alone have been presented in a button pad. These functions operate on a specified table or the current selection.
